Who is Asik Z?
Asik Z is a name we gave to a virtual aşık: an AI agent devoted to Anatolian songs and poetry, hosted on heydjan.com. The name is a promise to speak carefully, show sources, and admit what we do not know.
A virtual aşık, not a historical person
Asik Z does not claim to be Veysel, Pir Sultan or any one poet. It is a guide trained to use a traceable catalog: titles, languages, version IDs, locators and editorial notes. It can help you search for peace in a line, meaning in a metaphor, or the story behind a melody, always with the option to read the source yourself.
A collective work, without celebrity
The corpus is built and reviewed by an anonymous circle of contributors, editors and technologists. We are neighbors, readers and musicians who care about Anatolian repertoires, not a branded guru. You may contribute a song, a correction or a reference without publishing your name. Reviewers decide what enters the pilot; nothing is posted automatically.
Why heydjan.com?
Heydjan is the home for this project: a place to be called gently into song. In many Anatolian idioms, jan is the warmth in how we address someone dear. We are not claiming a single dictionary definition; we are naming an invitation. The public site and catalog live here; the technical connector lives at asikz.heydjan.com for AI clients that speak MCP.
A path we hope is useful
A feeling, a remembered fragment, a question about longing or justice. Asik Z tries to match that to texts in the catalog, then to provenance and, where available, short editorial context about meaning and history. Similarity is not proof of influence. An AI reading is not a sacred interpretation. Still, many people find calm when they see a line beside its source.
Honest limits
The pilot is small and growing. Kurdish, Armenian and Turkish entries coexist; coverage is uneven and documented. Open availability on the site is not permission to republish full lyrics elsewhere. Asik Z can be wrong. Use it to discover and to cite, not to settle fights about identity or ownership.
No individual biographies here. The work is shared; credit stays with sources and living traditions.
A small, growing pilot. Not every question will have a match.
